Storm boys split two, now 10-14 on season - 2/13/08

The Euroclydon Storm boys’ varsity home school basketball team traveled to Cary on Thursday to face the Community Partners charter school team from Holly Springs. It was a tough battle throughout the contest and Community Partners eventually won, 89-87.

Daniel Mullens led the Storm with 32 points. Isaac and Isaiah Smith scored 23 and 20 points respectively. Josh Hall finished with six points, while Duke Ashley tallied five, and Austin Brown added a free throw.

On Friday, the varsity team hosted the Lighthouse Eagles Home School team of Wake Forest and prevailed, 68-66.

Daniel Mullens led the team with 27 points (five 3-pointers). He was followed by Isaac Smith’s 25 points. Austin Brown finished with nine points and Josh Hall tallied six. Duke Ashley added a free throw to complete the scoring.

The Storm improved to 4-3 in the conference and 10-14 overall.

In junior varsity action, Sam Williams’ 32 points paced the Storm to an easy 104-32 victory. Isaiah Smith followed with 22 points, and Christian Shull and Isaac Smith contributed 15 each. Jeremy Bowen also scored in double figures as he tallied 12 points. Luke and Duke Ashley finished with six and two points respectively. With the win, the JV team raised its record to 4-1 in the conference and 16-2 overall.

In Middle School action, the Storm lost to the Lighthouse Eagles, 38-26. The Storm was led by Luke Ashley with 10 points, while Matthew Bowen and Aaron Mullens had seven apiece. Bryan Townsend finished with 2 points to round out the scoring.

The Storm fell to 5-4 in the conference and 7-7 overall.
