Brice Mitchell shot a 36 for nine holes to lead the Person Rockets golf team to its second duals win of the season Thursday afternoon at the Roxboro Country Club.

Mitchell’s 36 was followed by scores of 40 from Zeb Barnette and Brett Perkins, as the Rockets defeated Oxford Webb, 162-178, to go to 2-0 in non-conference duals play.

Adam Bunn had Person’s third highest score with a 46.

Person coach Mark Lunsford, in part, credited the low scores to his players’ familiarity with the Roxboro course.

There have been changes made to the team’s schedule as well, as the third Piedmont Athletic Conference match originally scheduled for Monday at Roxboro Country Club has been moved to the Willow Haven Golf Course in Durham, where Northern Durham will be the host team.

The Rockets will now host the fifth PAC-6 match on April 10 at RCC. They’ve placed fifth in the first two conference contests.

In addition, the starting time for all matches for the remainder of the season has been changed to 3 p.m. instead of the original 2:00 because of daylight savings time.

Person plays its third duals match on Tuesday at Bartlett Yancey, a team it defeated by 13 strokes back on March 5.
