The Person junior varsity baseball team will host the Rocket JV Challenge Tournament at Rocket Park this weekend with the opening round set for this Friday.

Eight teams will compete in the event.

Opening round action kicks off Friday morning (10 a.m.) with game one between Cardinal Gibbons and Cedar Ridge.

Other first round games are: Oxford Webb vs. Orange County in game two (1 p.m.); South Granville vs. Southern Alamance in game three (4 p.m.); and Person vs. Granville Central in game four (7 p.m.).

In Saturday’s second round, the losers of games one and two will meet in the first contest at 10 a.m., while the losers of games three and four will hook up at 1 p.m.

Winners of games one and two are scheduled to play at 4 p.m., and the winners of games three and four square off at 7 p.m.

That means Person will either play in the 1:00 or 7:00 game depending on Friday’s result.

The final-round consolation and championship contests will be held on Monday with the first game beginning at 10 a.m.
