Deputies with the Person County Sheriff’s Department arrested Jeremy Dean Crabtree, 28, of 4460 Oxford Rd. Saturday at his residence on a host of fraud-related charges

Crabtree was charged with eight felony counts each of forgery of an instrument, uttering a forged instrument and obtaining property by false pretense. He was also charged with two misdemeanor counts of larceny.

The incidents that led to Crabtree’s arrest reportedly took place on four dates in October and four dates in November. Warrants for Crabtree’s arrest were issued last Thursday.

Crabtree was held under a $50,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in Person County District Court on Jan. 8.

William Matthew Porterfield, 21, of 554 Hugh Woods Rd. was arrested Friday by sheriff’s deputies on fraud-related charges.

Porterfield, who was taken into custody at 4081 Allensville Rd., was charged with two felony counts each of obtaining property by false pretense and breaking and entering a motor vehicle. Porterfield was also charged with three misdemeanor counts of larceny.

The incidents that led to Porterfield’s arrest reportedly took place on one date in October, one date in November and two dates this month.

Porterfield was held under a $15,000 secured bond. He is slated to appear in district court on Jan. 8.
