Timberlake man arrested on
felony assault-related charges

Deputies with the Person County Sheriff’s Department arrested Phillip Roy Barbee, 43, of 419 Saplin Branch Rd. in Timberlake early Sunday on a pair of felony assault-related charges.

Barbee was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Barbee is alleged to have stabbed one man and cut another during an altercation at a residence on Saplin Branch Road. The two victims were reported taken to Duke University Medical Center in Durham for treatment of their injuries.

Deputies responded to the scene of the alleged assaults at 404 Saplin Branch Road at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday and arrested Barbee a short time later at his Saplin Branch Road residence.

Barbee was jailed under an $8,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in Person County District Court on Feb. 12.

Roxboro police arrested Darryl Ivery Heath, 32, of 433 S. Lamar St. Friday on a felony count of obtaining property by false pretense.

Heath was released from custody after posting a $4,000 secured bond. He is slated to appear in district court on Jan. 29.
