Competing in the competitive division for community newspapers of 10,000 or more circulation, Martin was cited for his entry “It’s about time … to spring forward,” a page of photographs playing on the theme of time related to the switch to daylight saving time in the spring of 2007.

Martin received the award Thursday evening during the NCPA’s annual awards presentation, in conjunction with the association’s 84th Winter Newspaper Institute, which was held at the Embassy Suites in Cary.

A graduate of the Randolph Community College photojournalism program, Martin has proved a consistent winner in the photography categories of the annual NCPA contest since joining the staff of The Courier-Times some 27 years ago.

Commenting on Martin’s latest award, Courier-Times Editor Neal Rattican said, “Ken Martin’s excellent command of his craft continues to impress his professional peers in the annual NCPA contest as it does the readers of The Courier-Times every week here in Person County.
