A Person County woman died Sunday night from injuries she
sustained in a one-vehicle accident in Orange County.
Cindy Fowler Crabtree, 40, of 1010 Holeman-Ashley Rd. in
Timberlake died after the 2003 Mini-Cooper she was driving
ran off Berry Road in Orange County, just north of its intersection
with N.C. 157, and struck a tree. The accident took place
shortly before 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
According to a spokesperson with the North Carolina Highway
Patrols Troop D, District V office in Graham, Crabtrees
vehicle, which was traveling north on Berry Road, ran off
the right side of the roadway, crossed back over the roadway
and went off the left side of the highway before striking
a ditch and a tree.
Crabtree was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. The
spokesperson said that alcohol and speed were not factors
in the accident, however, troopers believe that Crabtree was
not wearing a seatbelt.
Damage to the vehicle driven by Crabtree was estimated at
$8,000.
A funeral for Crabtree is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday in
Tabor City. Among Crabtrees survivors are her husband,
Mitch Crabtree, and five sons.
