A Monday morning fire caused extensive damage to a Timberlake residence, but no injuries were reported as a result of the blaze. Firefighters from the Timberlake Fire and Rescue Department responded to 396 Helena-Moriah Rd. just before 9:45 a.m. Monday. The home is the residence of Pam Tuck. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they “found the house full of smoke with flames in the right rear of the structure,” according to Timberlake Fire and Rescue Deputy Chief Phillip Burton. Burton said that the fire spread through the house and into the roof. The blaze was extinguished by firefighters in “just under two hours,” according to Burton.
Person County Fire Marshal Johnny Gentry and several Timberlake firemen conducted an investigation into the cause of the fire shortly after it was extinguished, Burton said. That investigation, he added, “determined that the possible cause of the fire was a pot left on the stove.” Burton went on to say that the heaviest damage to the structure was in the kitchen area. “but the whole house sustained fire, water and smoke damage.” Burton estimated damage to the structure and its contents at “approximately $75,000.”
Timberlake firefighters were aided at the scene by the Roxboro Fire Department, the Moriah, Bahama and Lebanon volunteer fire departments as well as Person County EMS, Person County Fire Marshals, the Person County Rescue Squad and the Person County Sheriff’s Department.
