Louise W. Clayton
Louise Wilburn Clayton, the wife, mother and grandmother of three
generations of publishers of The Courier-Times has died at the age
of 102.
Mrs. Clayton of 615 Ridge Rd., died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008 in Person
Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, in the
Roxboro Baptist Church by Dr. DuPre Sanders and the Rev. Gerald
Hodges. Burial will be in the Burchwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church before the service
Monday, from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
Born in Person County, Mrs. Clayton was the daughter of the late
Robert Lee Wilburn and Elizabeth Woodson. She was married to the
late Maynard C. Clayton, a former publisher of The Courier-Times.
She was a housewife. She was a member of Roxboro Baptist Church,
where she taught Sunday school for many years.
Surviving are a son, Jerry Clayton of Roxboro, publisher emeritus
of The Courier-Times; and three grandchildren, Kelly Clayton Smith,
Thomas Preston Brinn Clayton, the current publisher of The Courier-Times;
and Jerry Maynard Clayton II; and four great-grandchildren, Sarah
Brinn Smith, Hannah Callen Smith, Eleanor Elizabeth Clayton, and
Nikolay Alexander Brinn Clayton.

Ozzie J. Clayton
The funeral for Ozzie Jefferson Clayton, 82, of 1027 Country Club
Rd., who died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008 at his home, will be conducted
at 1 p.m. today, Jan. 19, in Theresa Baptist Church by the Rev.
Herbert Brown. Burial will be in the Person Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Clayton was a native of Person County, the son of the late
Johnny Jefferson and Monnie Solomon Clayton.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II.
He was retired from Collins & Aikman Corp. and was a member
of Theresa Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Coy Wilkins Clayton; three
sons, Gary Clayton and wife, Dana, Danny Clayton and wife, Magnolia,
and Randy Clayton, all of Roxboro; a brother, Robert Archie Clayton
of Roxboro; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Garrett of Roxboro; eight grandchildren;
and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Bowen, Lanny Clayton, Tony Clayton,
James Ferguson, Brandon Solomon and James Solomon.
Jamie Clayton, Justin Clayton, Paul Clayton, Samuel Leder, Joseph
Solomon, Anthony Solomon and Roger Solomon will be honorary pallbearers.

Lisa S. Frazier
A memorial service for Lisa Sorrell Frazier, 48, of 111 Winchester
Rd., Rougemont, who died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008 at her home, was
conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Brooks & White Funeral Home
chapel.
Born in Durham County, Mrs. Frazier was the daughter of Raymond
and Tillie Vickers Sorrell of Durham, who survive.
She was a homemaker and loved to knit.
Surviving in addition to her parents are her husband, David Frazier;
two daughters, Lana Frazier and Kelly Frazier, both of the home;
and a sister, Tara Clayton of Rougemont.
Mabel W. Moore
The funeral for Mabel Whitfield Moore, 85, who died Thursday, Jan.
17, 2008, at Person Memorial Hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m.
today, Jan. 19, in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church by the Rev.
Edgar DeJesus. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Born in Person County, Mrs. Moore was the daughter of the late
Hubert and Effie Barnett Whitfield. Her late son was Danny Paul
Moore.
She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church
where she was a member of the Ladies Aid.
Surviving are her husband, Earl Stephen Moore; a son, Stephen E.
Moore of Roxboro; two daughters, Margaret Matheson of Clayton and
Dianne Marshburn of Greenville; a brother, Hubert Whitfield of Roxboro;
a sister, Ruby W. Dickerson of Durham; and a grandson, James Matheson.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Jim Matheson, Larry Dowell, Michael Blackard,
Wayne Wilkerson, Phil Holeman, Jamie Holeman, Bill Cole, Richard
Cates and Charles Westbrooks.

Nora H. Thomas
The funeral for Nora Harris Thomas, 80, of 1225 Allensville Rd.,
who died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at Person Memorial Hospital, will
be conducted at 1 p.m. today, Jan. 19, in Shady Hill Baptist Church
by Dr. James A. Richmond. Burial will be in the Peace Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Thomas was a member of Shady Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Romell Thomas and Terry Thomas, both of
Roxboro; a sister, Annie Pettiford of Durham; a brother, Lee Grand
Harris of Durham; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Arrangements are by Cunningham & Nelson Funeral Home.
Jessica K. White
Jessica Koster White, 26, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2008, at Duke University
Medical Center. A memorial service will conducted at a later date.
Ms. White was a native of York, Pa., the daughter of Lynn A. Koster
of York, who survives.

Winfrey Wilkins
EDEN The funeral for Winfrey Wilkins, 76, of 815 Oakwood
Dr. and formerly of Roxboro, who died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 at
Hospice of Rockingham County Hospice Home in Wentworth, was conducted
at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, in St. Joseph of the Hill's Catholic
Church.
Born June 15, 1931 in Halifax County, Va., Mr. Wilkins was the
son of the late Walter and Bessie Gordon Wilkins. His late son was
Guy Joseph Wilkins, and his late brother was Randolph Wilkins.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served during the Korean
War.
He was retired from Miller Brewing Co.
He was a member of St. Joseph of the Hills Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, Jeannine Doyon Wilkins; two sons, Stephen
Wilkins and wife, Celeste, of Monson, Mass. and David Wayne Wilkins
and wife, Suzanne, of Chicopee, Mass.; two daughters, Michele Dee
Rufo and husband, Larry, of Grayslake, Ill. and Jo Anne Waller and
husband, Gordon, of Indianapolis, Ind.; a brother, Walter Burton
Wilkins of Butner; two sisters, Sarah Elizabeth White and Frances
Blackley, both of Butner; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
