Robert L. Carey II
SCOTTSBURG, Va. The funeral for Robert Lynn (Dusty) Carey
II, 19, of 6091 James D. Hagood Hwy., who died Sunday, Jan. 27,
2008 in Halifax County, Va., will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday,
Jan. 31, in the South Boston Church of God by the Rev. Bruce Hagy
and the Rev. D.G. Fox. Burial will be in the Carey Family Farm Cemetery.
Born Nov. 26, 1988 in Halifax County, Va., Mr. Carey was the son
of Robert Lynn (Smokey) and Penny Hall Carey of Scottsburg, who
survive. His late grandfathers were Leo Todaro and Robert (Baldy)
Carey and his late great-grandmothers were Georgia High and Ophie
Hall.
He worked at Tractor Supply Co., was a student at DCC and loved
to skateboard.
He was a former member of the Halifax County High School Marching
Band.
He was a member of the South Boston Church of God.
Surviving in addition to his parents are a brother, Dakota Carey
of Scottsburg; his maternal grandparents, Louis and Betty Jean Brewer
of Scottsburg and Robert Joe Hall and wife, Maggie, of Ewing, Va.;
and his paternal grandmother, Mary Todaro of Smithfield.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today, Jan. 30, at
the church and at other times at the home.
Arrangements are by Powell Funeral Home of South Boston, Va.
Lottie R. Huey
MEBANE The funeral for Lottie Belle Rice Huey, 87, of 627
E. Stagecoach Rd., Mebane, who died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008 at her
residence, was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, in Lebanon
United Methodist Church by the Rev. Ray Teague and the Rev. Robert
Rice. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Huey was a native of Mebane. Her late husband of 66 years
was John Franklin Huey. Her late son was Roy L. Huey, and her late
grandson was Charlie Franklin Huey. Her late sisters were Pearl
Rice Hodge and Dolly Briggs, and her late brothers were Coy Rice
and Robert Melvin Rice.
She was retired from 49 Seafood and was a member of Lebanon United
Methodist Church.
She loved painting and working with flowers.
She was also a member of the Burlington Artist League.
Surviving are two sons, Charles A. Huey and wife, Linda, of Roxboro
and Ronald D. Huey of Charleston, S.C.; a sister Margaret Elizabeth
Rice of Mebane; two brothers, James Rice and Joseph Rice, both of
Mebane; grandchildren, Michael Wayne Huey and Judson Bryan Huey
of Mebane and Jarrod Harrison of Charleston; two step-grandsons,
Scott Isley and Jody Isley; and several great-grandchildren.

Earl G. Lunsford
The funeral for Earl Grady Lunsford, 68, of 795 Old Durham Rd.,
who died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008 at his home, will be conducted at
1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, in Jones Chapel Baptist Church by the
Rev. Ronald Booker. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Vanessa L. Lunsford; three daughters, Melinda
Scott of Durham, Jennifer Lunsford of Roxboro and Tina Lunsford
of Atlanta, Ga.; three sons, Fredrick Lunsford and wife, Robin,
Maurice Lunsford and Earl Lunsford Jr., all of Roxboro; a stepson,
William Street of N.Y.; an adopted daughter, Linda Coleman and husband,
Anthony, of South Boston, Va.; two brothers, James Lunsford and
Willie R. Lunsford, both of Roxboro; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hester, Whitted
& Daye Funeral Home.
William T. Vickers
BANNING, Calif. A graveside funeral for William T. (Bill)
Vickers, 88, of Banning, Calif., who died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007,
was conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008 in Rose Hill
Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif.
Born July 1, 1919, in Person County, Mr. Vickers was the son of
the late Dr. Grover Cleveland (G.C.) and Ida Belvin Vickers. His
late first wife was Jeanette P. Vickers. His late brothers were
Hiram (Bud) Vickers, G.C. Vickers Jr. and Theodore (Ted) Vickers,
and his late sisters were Elise V. Perry, Anne V. Shotwell and Docie
V. Duke. His late stepmother was Betty Eberman Vickers.
He grew up on a farm in Allensville.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II.
He served as a deputy sheriff for 30 years for Los Angeles County,
Calif.
Surviving are his second wife, Marilyn Vickers; four daughters,
Donna V. Lesher of Wrightwood, Calif., April V. Sanchez of Rialto,
Calif., Jan V. Parcych of Anaheim Hills, Calif. And Judy Vickers
of Chino, Calif.; three stepsons; a sister, Polly V. Young of Tybee
Island, Ga.; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
