Odie S. Clayton
A graveside funeral for Odie S. Clayton, 95, of 4790 Oxford Rd.,
who died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008 at the Roxboro Nursing Center,
will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Feb. 9, in the Mt. Harmony Baptist
Church cemetery by the Rev. Barry Chambers.
Born in Person County, Mr. Clayton was the son of the late Joseph
Jonathan and Nannie Mooney Clayton. His late wife was Lizzie Russell
Clayton.
He was retired after 30 years with Collins & Aikman Corp.
He was a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Sheldon P. Clayton of Spartanburg, S.C.; a
daughter, Joyce C. Dunevant of Timberlake; a sister, Clessie C.
Thomas of Oxford; three grandchildren, Jennifer Mueller, Catherine
Carithers and Michelle Dunevant; and four great-grandchildren.

Judith M. Crabtree
The funeral for Judith Miller Crabtree, 92, of 45 Halifax Rd.,
who died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008 at Duke Community Hospice, will
be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 9, in Berrys Grove Baptist
Church by the Rev. Craig Willingham and the Rev. Alfred Snipes.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Born in Person County, Mrs. Crabtree was the daughter of the late
Garland and Ethel Tilley Miller. Her late husband was Stephen Crabtree.
She was retired from Durham Drapery and was a member of Berrys
Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are three children, Garland (G.L.) Crabtree of Durham,
Harold Crabtree of Raleigh and Carolyn C. Hall of Roxboro; a brother,
Clarence Miller, of Georgia; five sisters, Nancy Crabtree of Durham,
Lida Sparrow of Wilmington, Corine Stinchcomb of Oklahoma and Christine
Clayton and Betty Roberts, both of Durham; nine grandchildren, Beverly
Thomas, Barry Crabtree, Amy Crabtree, Daniel Crabtree, Mike Anders,
Steven Hall, David Hall, Tina Hicks and Heather Smith; and six great-grandchildren,
Josh Thomas, Kristin Thomas, Tyler Crabtree, Thomas Anders, Joshua
Anders, Cameron Hicks, Colby Hicks and Adam Smith.
Pallbearers will be Barry Crabtree, Daniel Crabtree, David Hall,
B.J. Hicks, Sammy Lowery and Mike Anders.
Steven Hall will be an honorary pallbearer.

Janice L. Ennis
HILLSBOROUGH A memorial service for Janice Leigh Ennis 45,
of 418 US Hwy. 70, Hillsborough, who died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008
at Duke University Hospital following a brief illness, will be conducted
at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, in the Strickland Funeral Home chapel
by the Rev. Gene Brooks.
Mrs. Ennis was a native of Durham County, the daughter of the late
Buddy Lee and Cecelia Baxter Crabtree.
She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Surviving are a daughter, Amanda L. Inman and husband, Brad, of
Timberlake; a son, John Michael Ennis of Hillsborough; two sisters,
Diane Ayers of Rougemont and Beverly Jeffries of Durham; a brother,
Wesley Winston of Timberlake; and two grandchildren, Kassidie Ennis
and Skyler Inman.
Visitation will be at the home of her daughter, Amanda Inman, 664
John Moore Rd., Timberlake.

Martin R. Thaxton
The funeral for Martin Ray (Buck) Thaxton, 63, of 1407 Pointer
St., who died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008 at Duke University Medical Center,
was conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, in the Brooks & White
Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. L.L. Watlington and the Rev. Wayne
Bowes. Burial was in the Providence Cemetery.
Born in Person County, Mr. Thaxton was the son of the late Elvis
and Annie Maude Palmer Thaxton. His late brother was T.P. Thaxton,
and his late sister was Louise Pulliam.
He was retired from Piedmont Electric and was a member of Providence
Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Marsha Diane Harris and husband, Lonnie,
of Roxboro; four brothers, James (Tom) Thaxton, William (Bill) Thaxton
and Donnie Joe Thaxton, all of Roxboro and Phillip Thaxton of South
Boston, Va.; two sisters, Shelby Wrenn and Margaret Jeffrey, both
of Roxboro; three grandchildren, Britney Harris, Brandon Harris
and Cheyanne Harris.
Pallbearers were Bobby Vaughn, Chuck Walker, James Cunningham,
Randy Briggs, Chuck Overby and Kenneth Milam.
Phillip Woods, Harry Smith, Ronnie Long, Pastor Billy Edwards and
Wayne Shotwell were honorary pallbearers.
