George R. Eisenberg

The funeral for George Ray Eisenberg, 64, of 161 Trescott Dr., Timberlake, who died Friday, March 21, 2008, at his home, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, in the Brooks & White Funeral Home chapel.

Born in Nassau County, N.Y., Mr. Eisenberg was the son of the late Louis and Ada Mae Powell Eisenberg.

He was retired from the Newport News, Va. Police Department and was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Police in Newport News.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Barbara Speight Eisenberg; two daughters, Ann-Marie Eisenberg and Mary Adrian Eisenberg, both of Timberlake; four grandchildren, Barbara Elizabeth Reed, Charles Robert Whitmer Jr., Bobby Wayne Reed III and Brandon Lee Eisenberg; and a great-grandchild, Charles Ray Whitmer.

Visitation will be at the funeral home for one hour before the service.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

Hank S. Hite

CLARKSVILLE, Va. — A memorial service for Hank Sherwin Hite, 44, of Clarksville, Va., who died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at his residence, was conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, in the Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home chapel.

Mr. Hite was a native of Halifax County, Va., the son of Maxine Thomas of Virgilina, Va., who survives, and the late Willie Sherman Hite.

He was a 1982 graduate of Halifax County High School.

He was a member of Aarons Creek Baptist Church.

He was a former employee with Virginia Homes, and for the past 10 years he had been employed with Clarksville Painting.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Tammy F. Hite of Chase City; two sons, Shawn Lee Hite of Baskerville and Christopher Scott Hite of Chase City; a sister, Janet Hite Eastwood of Roxboro; his step-father, Walter Thomas of Virgilina.

John G. Rheubottom

The funeral for John George Rheubottom, 63, of 288 North Ridge Cir., who died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Duke University Medical Center, will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, March 22, in the Brooks & White Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Herbert Brown. Burial will be in the Theresa Baptist Church cemetery.

Born in Glens Falls, N.Y., Mr. Rheubottom was the son of Reginald Rheubottom of Queensbury, N.Y. and the late Joan Rheubottom.

He graduated from Paul Smith College with a major in forestry. He later graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a major in wood technology.

He was an area sales representative for Borden Chemical.

An avid fisherman and hunter, he had traveled all over the United States and Canada.

He was a member of Theresa Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his father are his wife, Margaret Rheubottom; two children, Jeffrey Rheubottom of Kill Devil Hills and Lori Rheubottom of Semora; and a grandchild, Sydney Rheubottom.

Visitation will be at the funeral home for one hour before the service.

Pallbearers will be members of the Men’s No. 3 Sunday School Class.

Edith V. Solomon

A graveside funeral for Edith Virginia Solomon, 99, of Roxboro, who died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at the home of her daughter, Victoria Solomon Jones Clark, will be conducted at 3 p.m. today, March 22, in Person Memorial Cemetery by the Rev. Dan Norman and the Rev. Phillips Chryst.

Mrs. Solomon was born July 16, 1908 in Logan County, W.Va., the daughter of the late Charles Daniel Solomon and Virginia and Victoria Jane Baldwin of Logan, W. Va. Her late husband was John Shaube Paul Solomon. Her late children were Pauline Solomon Weddle, Mary Jane Solomon Parks and Samuel Sherwood Solomon.

She spent her early childhood and teen years at Bloomsburg Plantation in Turbeville, Va.

She was employed with Collins and Aikman Corp.

At her death she was the oldest member of Warren’s Grove United Methodist Church.

In her later years, she enjoyed her grandchildren, traveling in Europe, watercolor painting and reading.

Surviving are four daughters, Corrine Solomon Logan of Wilson, Shirley Solomon Hamlett of Roxboro, Loula Frances Solomon Conques and husband, Dane, of San Antonio, Texas and Victoria Solomon Jones Clark and husband, Ken, of Shallotte; a sister, Yantus Solomon Jenkins of Tarboro; 18 grandchildren, Laura Logan Edmundson of Roswell, Ga., Ella Logan Patterson of Greenville, John Logan of Raleigh, Randy Weddle of Sunset Beach, Rhonda Weddle Fetter of Winston-Salem, Richard Parks of Beaufort, S.C., Deborah Parks of Cornelia, Mary Katherine Parks McMillan of Wrightsville Beach, Stuart Parks of Winston-Salem, Tracy Parks of Huntersville, Kenneth Hamlett of Tampa, Fla., Michael Hamlett of Raleigh, Dana Hamlett Woodham of Roxboro, Danielle Conques Garcia of Denver Co., Camille Conques Sassman of Mansfield, Texas, Nicole Conques of Dallas, Texas; Collette Conques of San Antonia, Caresse Conques Lyons of San Antonio; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be at the funeral home for one hour before the service.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, John Logan, Randy Weddle, Ken Hamlett, Michael Hamlett, Richard Parks, and Stuart Parks.

Frank Deshoches, Edward Yarboro, Riley Sarver, Ted Gentry and Benjamin West will be honorary pallbearers.

Sallie E. Tuck

The funeral for Sallie Eva Tuck, 89, of 422 Edgar St., who died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at Person Memorial Hospital, was conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 14, in the Brooks & White Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Ross Thompson and Dr. Tobie Stone. Burial was in the Burchwood Cemetery.

Born in Halifax County, Va., Ms. Tuck was the daughter of the late Richard Bennett and Mattie Lee Burgess Tuck. Her late grandson was Timothy Wayne Tuck.

She was retired from Collins & Aikman Corp. and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a son, Marshall Wayne Tuck and wife, Barbara, of Roxboro; a sister, Edna Lunsford of Leicester; a grandson, Woody Marshall Tuck; a great-grandson, Stephen Lee Tuck; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Todd Fox, Richard Fox, Lawrence Lunsford, Stephen Tuck, Woody Tuck and Brandon Fox.

Clarence I. Williams

The funeral for Clarence Irvin Williams, 55, of 170 Turtle Hills Ct., who died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Person Memorial Hospital, will be conducted with military honors at 1 p.m. today, March 22, in Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Yanceyville, by Pastor Paul Robinson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Williams was a native of Rockingham County, the son of the late Lawrence and Garnetta Williams.

He was employed with Adecco Protective Service and was a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Hannah Williams; four step-sons, Kerry A. Harris and wife, Venus, of Halifax, Va., Kenneth Harris and Dexter Harris, both of Alton, Va. and Frederick Harris and wife, Jessica, of South Boston, Va.; a step-daughter, Renita Harris of Roxboro; his step-mother, Mary P. Williams of Danville, Va.; a brother, Lawrence William Jr. of Danville; two sisters, Judy Hoskins and Sandra Ellington, both of Danville; a step-brother, Scott Saunders of Danville; and a step-sister, Nancy Swason of Danville; 10 step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
