Edwin E. Burton
The funeral for Edwin Eric Burton, 66, of 11091 Durham Rd., Timberlake,
who died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Duke University Medical Center,
will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 29, in Antioch Baptist
Church by Dr. M. David Chambers. Burial will be in the Blalock Family
Cemetery.
Born in Person County, Mr. Burton was the son of the late Dwight
Paul and Addie Blalock Burton.
He was the co-owner and founder of the County Line BP and the former
owner of Burton Logging Co. He also worked in construction with
H.B. Zachry and Brown & Root. He retired in 2002.
He attended Antioch Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Edna Wade Burton; three children, Brenda
Reaves and husband, Charles, Eddie Burton and wife, Laura, all of
Timberlake and Ronald Burton of Hurdle Mills; four grandchildren,
Kristi Reaves, Brandon Burton, Erica Reaves and Mary-Lynn Burton.
Pallbearers will be Sterling Gilbert, Nickie Allen, Terry Blalock,
Burnice Blalock, Roy Brooks and Dewey Jones.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today, May 28, at Brooks
& White Funeral Home.

Nora F. Chambers
Timberlake Nora Frazier Chambers, 92, of 8720 Durham Rd.,
died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Roxboro Nursing Center. Born in Person
County, Mrs. Chambers was the daughter of the late Sam Frazier and
Addie Oakley Frazier Chambers, wife of the late Kemp Talmadge Chambers
and mother of the late Marshal Ray Pete Chambers. Mrs.
Chambers was a homemaker and a member of Helena United Methodist
Church.
Mrs. Chambers is survived by her brother, Robert Lester Chambers;
one daughter-in-law, Flora Chambers, of Timberlake; two grandchildren,
Billy Ray Chambers and Timothy Marshall Chambers and wife Tammy;
two great-grandchildren, Michael Thomas Chambers and wife Rita and
Tracey Michelle Chambers; one great-great-grandchild, Gracelyn Paige
Chambers.
Tentative funeral services will be 11AM Thursday at the Brooks
& White Chapel by the Rev. Jack Synder. Burial will follow in
the Chambers Family Cemetery. Visitation will be held 10-11AM Thursday
prior to the service at the Brooks & White Chapel.

Mary B. Clayton
The funeral for Mary Jane Bray Clayton, 89, of 457 Stories Creek
Rd., who died Friday, May 23, 2008, at Person County Memorial Hospital,
was conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, May 26, in the Brooks & White
Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Ken McLean and the Rev. Herbert
Brown. Burial was in the Ebenezer Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
Born in Nash County, Mrs. Clayton was the daughter of the late
D.T. Bray and Willie Ann Bohanon Bray. Her late husband was Aubrey
Henry Clayton.
She attended Oak Grove United Methodist Church for over 25 years.
Surviving are six children and their spouses, Barbara C. and Linney
Clayton, Brenda C. and Carlyle Morton, Ronald and Johnsie Clayton,
Shirley C. and Dwight Oakley, Randall Lee and Linda Clayton and
Audrey Clayton and fiancé Kenneth Tarver, all of Roxboro;
a brother, Thomas Bray of Auburn, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren;
and a great-great grandchild.
Pallbearers were Derek Clayton, Johnny Gentry, Jason Clayton, Jeremy
D. Oakley, Marty Holder and Rob Holder.

Eva H. Smith
Funeral arrangements were incomplete at presstime for Eva Mae Humphries
Smith, formerly of Charles Street, who died Monday, May 26, 2008
at Durham Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Person County.
She was retired from Max Factor.

Ervin M. Terry
A graveside funeral for Ervin Marvin Terry, 71, 10057 Hurdle Mills
Rd., Hurdle Mills, who died Saturday, May 24, 2008, in his home,
was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, in the Berrys Grove
Baptist Church cemetery by Pastor Billy Edwards.
Mr. Terry was a native of Person County, the son of the late Sam
Terry and Audrey McCullough.
He was a self-employed auto mechanic, and he also had painted cars.
He attended Berrys Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Edwards Terry; two daughters, Angela
Bass of Roxboro and Crystal Terry of Hurdle Mills; three sisters,
Kathryn Terry Yancey of Durham, Myrtle Terry Hobgood of Timberlake
and Alice Porterfield of Hurdle Mills; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Chris Bass, Alvin Shaw, Earl Tuck, David Hamlett,
James Hobgood, Rodney Hobgood, Bobby Porterfield and Joel Bowling,
Jr.

John S. Yarbrough
John Samuel Yarbrough, age 76 of 315 Olive Branch Road, died Saturday,
May 24, 2008 at Person Memorial Hospital. He was born in Person
County. Mr. Yarbrough was son of the late Victor and Laura Harris
Yarbrough. He was retired from Collins & Aikman Corp.
Surviving are his wife, Shirlie Weaver Yarbrough of the home, his
two sons, Mitch Yarbrough and wife Betty of Oxford and Mark Yarbrough
of the home; two grandchildren, Joshua and wife, Shannon Yarbrough
and Logan Yarbrough; one brother, Ronald Yarbrough of Burlington,
and one sister, Nancy Allen of Hillsborough.
The family will received friends 6:30 to 8:00 PM Sunday, May 25,
2008 at Brooks & White Funeral Home.
The funeral service was held 11:00 AM Monday, May 26, 2008 at Brooks
& White Funeral Home with the Rev. Buddy Hall officiating. Burial
will be in the Person Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Barry Yarbrough, Curtis Yarbrough, Dennis Hodges,
Winston Elliott, D.T. Neal, and Spurgeon Neal.
