Eunice C. Eades
FORT WORTH, Texas Eunice Bradsher Cunningham Eades, 84,
passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 10, 2008, in Fort Worth. Though
in declining health, she had continued to live independently until
until her fall.
Graveside service: 9 a.m. Friday in Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery.
Eunice was born Dec. 12, 1923, in Roxboro, Person County, N.C.
Eunice was a Christian, a transplanted Texan and a Renaissance woman.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Cunningham,
and second husband, Doyle Eades.
Survivors: She leaves to cherish her memory, nieces, Marsha Toni
Wilkins and Diane Bradsher Rhinehard; nephews, Tom Whitworth and
Ben Bradsher; sister-in-law, Louise Bradsher; and numerous other
family in North Carolina and Virginia. Additionally, she will be
greatly missed by her dear friend, Lavon Vickery.

J. Herbert Winstead
The funeral for James Herbert Winstead, 83, of 1652 Semora Rd.,
who died Saturday, June 7, 2008 at his home, was conducted ina New
Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Burial was in the Winstead Family Cemetery.
Born on Sept. 9, 1925 in Person County, Mr. Winstead was the son
of the late Richard C. and Betsy Lester Winstead.
He grew up on the Winstead family farm on Semora Road. He received
his early education in Person County schools and was graduated from
Person County Training School in 1943. An honor student, he attended
Morgan State College in Baltimore, Md.
He served in the United States Air Force and received an honorable
discharge in 1952.
He was a blood bank technologist for 42 years. He retired in 1995
from the blood bank at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City.
He lived in East Orange, N.J. until 1997, when he returned home.
He was a member of New Mount Zion Baptist Church in Roxboro.
Surviving are four sisters, Arlene W. Williams and Gladys W. Thorp,
both of East Orange, N.J.; Emily W. Eily of Roxboro and Lowillis
W. Johnson of Linden, N.J.; and a brother, Donald Winstead of Roselle,
N.J.
Ira T. Watson
The funeral for Ira Thomas Watson, 70, of 2995 Bowmantown Rd.,
who died Sunday, June 8, 2008 at UNC Hospitals, was conducted at
3 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, in the Brooks & White Funeral Home
chapel by the Rev. Jimmy Pulliam. Burial was in the Person Memorial
Cemetery.
Mr. Watson was a native of Mecklenburg, Va, the son of the late
Edward Dallas and Helen Newcomb Watson. His late wife was Nancy
Lee Watson.
He served in the National Guard for approximately 15 years.
He was retired from Collins & Aikman Corporation.
Surviving are five children, Edward Watson of Graham, David Davis,
Lisa Davis and Janice Harris, all of Roxboro and Renee Watson of
the home; a brother, Al Watson of Lincoln, Maine; a half brother,
Roy Watson of Chapel Hill; three sisters, Betty Barts, Ellen Jones
and Mary Jane Phillips, all of Roxboro; and 13 grandchildren and
a great-grandchild
Pallbearers were David Davis, Jimmy Davis, Donnie Loftis, Devin
James, Thomas Jacovitch, Marshall Jones and Keith Wilson.

Nellie L. Woody
The funeral for Nellie Lee Woody, 77, who died Wednesday, June
11, 2008 at Duke University Medical Center, will be conducted at
2 p.m. Monday, June 16, in The Church of God in Christ Jesus by
Pastor Alice McKnight Dickens. Burial will be in the Peace Memorial
Gardens.
Mrs. Woody was a member of The Church of God in Christ Jesus.
Surviving are six daughters, Cleo Palmer, Emma Alston, Joyce Hawley,
Judy Cantoni, Zinner Downey and Sherl Murphy; five sons, Leon Parker,
John Edward Downey, William Henry Downey, Willie C. Downey and Jimmie
Downey; three sisters, Clara Williams, Dorothy Cuzman and Mildred
Daniels; two brothers, Randolph Daniels and Edward Daniels; a number
of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 15, at Cunningham
& Nelson Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Zinner
Downey, 220 S. St., Roxboro.
