Daisey M. Bass

The funeral for Daisey Maye Bass, 88, formerly of 5700 Mt. Harmony Church Rd., Rougemont, who died Thursday, June 19, 2008 in Rose Manor Health Care following an extended illness, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, June 25, in Siloam Baptist Church by the Rev. Wayne Johnson. Burial will be in the Bass Family Cemetery.

Miss Bass was a member of Siloam Baptist Church.

Surviving are four sisters, Janie Davidson of Durham, Lucille Bradley of Baltimore, Md., Queen Travis of Washington D.C. and Iola Bass of Rougemont; two brothers, James Nello Bass of Rougemont and Stoney Bass of Fayetteville.

Visitation will be at the church for one hour before the service.

Arrangements are by Cunningham & Nelson Funeral Home.

Elizabeth A. Brown

The funeral for Elizabeth Mary Allen Brown, 77 of 901 Ridge Rd, who died Friday, June 20, 2008, at the Roxboro Nursing Center, will be conducted at 2 p.m. in the Hester, Whitted & Daye Funeral Home chapel by Bishop Johnny Davis. Burial will be in the Cedar Grove Baptist Church cemetery.

Surviving are three sisters, Minerva (Tuck) Bynum and Stella Austin, both of Newark, N.J .and Flossie Leach of Pittsboro; and a special companion, Howard Allen of Roxboro.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, June 24 at the funeral home.

Edward O. Daniel Jr.

BLANCH — Edward Otis Daniel, Jr. 77, of 2765 County Home Road died Monday June 23, 2008 at his residence, following a period of declining health.

He was born in Caswell County February 21, 1931, to Edward Otis Daniel, Sr. and Frances Payne Gammon. He was a graduate of Cobb Memorial High School and farmed for many years. He retired from Copeland Fabrics and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the local VFW and American Legion. He was a lifetime member of Bethel United Methodist Church, but attended Purley United Methodist Church.

Funeral Services will be Thursday 2 p.m. at Purley United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Park Hunter, Pastor. American Legion Post #89 is in charge of Military Graveside Rites in the church cemetery.

Survivors are one daughter, Ellen Daniel Pleasant of Prospect Hill, three sons, Michael Edward Daniel of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, Wesley Lee Daniel, of Cedar Grove, and Joel Clare Daniel, of Blanch. Nine grandchildren one great grandchild, and one sister Catherine Tulloh of Fredericksburg, Va. also survive.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife Barbara “Bobbie” Daniel May 26, 2002.

The family will receive friends Wednesday 7-8:30 p.m. at Harrelson Funeral Home, and at other times at the residence.

Robert D. Gentry

DURHAM — The funeral for Robert David (R.D.) Gentry, 76, of 1817 South Alston Ave., Durham, who died Friday, June 20, 2008, in Duke University Medical Center, was conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, in Shady Hill Baptist Church by Dr. James A. Richmond. Burial was in the St. James Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Gentry was a native of Person County and a member of Saint James Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Bertha Pass Gentry; three daughters, Cheryl Gentry, Kathy Gentry and Nakesha Gentry, all of Durham; two sons, Kenneth Gentry of Mebane and Barry Gentry of Durham, a sister, Christine Gentry of Durham; two brothers, Alvis Gentry and Frank Gentry, both of Durham; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Cunningham & Nelson Funeral Home.

Vicki G. Sidney-Potts

CLAYTON — The funeral for Vicki G. Sidney-Potts, 53, of 1722 Old U.S. 70 West, Clayton, who died Friday, June 20, 2008, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, was conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, in the Hester, Whitted & Daye Funeral Home chapel. Burial was in the Fort Cemetery in Freemont.

Mrs. Sidney-Potts was the daughter of Jean Guthrie of Burlington, who survives.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, H.I. Potts Jr.; four children Christopher A. Sidney and Alyssa M. Sidney both of Roxboro, Henry Potts of Raleigh and Latoya Potts of Clayton; a brother, Johnny W. Guthrie; two sisters, Kay G. Duncan and Jeannie G. Salter; and seven grandchildren.

Birdena M. Wisser

A graveside funeral for Birdena Louise Mickle Wisser, 87, formerly of Semora, who died Sunday, June 21, 2008 at the Brian Center in Yanceyville, will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, June 25, in the Person Memorial Cemetery by the Rev. T.R. Miller.

Mrs. Wisser was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of the late Harrison I. and Ella M. Clements Mickle. Her late husband was Ferd Wisser.

She was a member of the Long Memorial United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Wisser, known to Personians as “Birdie,” was founder of the Person County Needleworkers Inc.

Surviving are a daughter, Louise Frawley of Semora; three grandchildren, Shawn Frawley, Kelly Frawley and Christopher Frawley; six great-grandchildren, Kennedy Frawley, Emily Sasser, Natalie Frawley, Jaden Lawrence, Aiden Frawley and Miah Lawrence, all of the Portsmouth, Va. area.
