Allie W. Blalock
The funeral for Allie Ray Wade Blalock, 94, of Hurdle Mills, who died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 16, in Clement Baptist Church by the Rev. Lewis Wall and Dr. Ben Gault. Burial will be in the Wheeler’s Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
A native of Person County, Mrs. Blalock was born Nov. 20, 1913, the year that births were first recorded in Person County, the daughter of the late Richard Ellis and Georgeanna Bennett Wade. Her late husbands were Elmer Long, and Algie Lemuel Blalock. Her late brothers were Johnny, James, Walter, Earl, Willie and Robert Wade, and her late sisters were Lizzie Seate, Mary Sue Fox, Bessie Bennett and her infant twin sister Hallie Mae.
Affectionately known as “B,” “Granny B” and “Miss Allie” to her family and friends, she was a homemaker and enjoyed working in her garden.
At her death, she was the oldest member of Clement Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending Golden Oldies at Salem United Methodist Church and Roxboro Christian Women’s Club.
Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy Whitfield and husband, Howard, of Hurdle Mills, and Nettie Brogden and husband, Bill, of Durham; four grandchildren, Cheryl W. Moreland and husband, Cal, of Greer, S.C., Beth Hawkins and husband, Spencer, of Durham, Rebecca Nance and husband, Brian, of Durham and Amy Whitfield of Carrboro; her great-grandchildren, Callie Moreland and Hannah and Owen Hawkins; her sister-in-law, Estelle Boyd, of Roxboro and her brother-in-law, Arch Fox, of Charlotte.
Pallbearers will be Larry Fox, John Wade, Beamie Wade, Bernell Rogers, Russell Rogers, Linwood Blalock,Aandy Solomon, and R.B. Tingen.
Ray Rogers and Ronald Hazel are honorary pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

S. Denise Bell
Shelia Denise Bell, 55, of 206 S. St., died Tuesday, July 29, 2008, following a brief illness.
Ms. Bell was born in North Carolina, the daughter of the late Verna Wiggs. Her late daughter was Heather Bell.
She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Dianne Owens of Roxboro and Rebecca DeBerry of Virginia.; and five grandchildren; Tanner Owens, Michael W., Krissy DeBerry, Daniel and Brookie.
Phyllis J. Morris
The funeral for Phyllis Jean Morris, 56, of 436 Monroe St., who died Monday morning, Aug. 11, 2008, in her homme following several months of declining health, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 16, in First Baptist Church by the Rev. Conne Dickens.
Surviving Mrs. Morris are her husband, Louis Morris; a daughter, Margareta Morris; a son, Brucellious Morris; her mother, Peggy B. Jones; two brothers, David Jones and Ricky Burton; aunts, Isabelle Bumpass and Mary Mason; and an uncle, Louis Dickens.
Evelyn Outlaw
The funeral for Evelyn Outlaw of 5871 Oxford Rd., Timberlake, who died Thursday afternoon, Aug. 14, 2008, in Person Memorial Hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, in Bible Way Holiness Church in Milton by Elder Edward Breedlove. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Surviving Ms. Outlaw are a son and daughter-in-law, Tyrone and Dextina Outlaw of the home; a sister, Frances Outlaw of Roxboro; a brother, David Outlaw of Durham; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. today, Aug. 16, at Cunningham and Nelson Funeral Home.
