Kathleen W. Lacy
SOUTH BOSTON, Va. A graveside funeral for Kathleen (Teena)
Wilkins Lacy of South Boston, Va., who died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007
at Duke Medical Center, was conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12,
in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in South Boston by Dr. Russell Lee.
Mrs. Lacy was the daughter of the late Winfrey A. and Sue Satterfield
Wilkins. Her late sister was Jean Wilkins Kirby Holt.
She spent her childhood years in Roxboro but lived most of her
adult life in Halifax County, Va.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her husband, Dr. Malcolm (Mac) Lacy; a daughter,
Susan Medlin of Roxboro; a step-daughter, Lally Lacy Jennings and
husband, Dr. Foster Jennings, of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Peggy
Wilkins Linville of Roxboro; three brothers, Mike Wilkins of Cary,
Ray Wilkins and Winkie Wilkins, both of Roxboro; and two step grandchildren,
Mac and Lacy Jennings, both of Richmond.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, South Atlantic
Division, 4240 Park Place Ct., Glenn Allen, Va. or to the First
Presbyterian Church, 800 N. Main St., South Boston, Va. 24592.
Kenneth R. Long
DURHAM A memorial service for Kenneth Ronald Long, 48, of
Morreene West, Durham, who died Monday, Oct, 8, 2007 at his home,
will be conducted at noon today, Oct. 13, in the Brooks & White
Funeral Home chapel in Roxboro by Pastor Jon Faucette.
Born in Prince William County, Va., Mr. Long was son of the late
Kelly Ronald and Mary Alvis Long.
He was employed with Strawbridge Studios in Durham.
He loved bowling, fishing and playing pool.
Surviving are two children, Kelly Long of Timberlake and Leslie
Long of Hurdle Mills; two sisters, Ronda Shephard of Hugoton, Kan.
and Eva Waddell of Snow Camp; and five grandchildren, Katie Long,
Kourtney Long, Karly Long, Ethan Long and Kelly Long II.
Visitation will be at the funeral home for one hour before the
service.
Kevin A. Ray
HILLSBOROUGH A memorial service for Kevin Allen Ray, 52,
of Orange Grove Rd., Hillsborough, who died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007
at his home, was conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, in the Clements
Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. John Gaither.
Mr. Ray was the son of the late Henry Morris and Alma Ray. His
late sister was Robin Ray.
Surviving are his wife, Janice Harris Ray; three children, Tina
Hamby and husband, Troy, Joshua Kevin Ray of Mebane and Brian Allen
Ray of Roxboro; a step-daughter, Melinda Denardo and husband, Tony,
of Long Island, N.Y.; two brothers, David Ray of Hillsborough and
Jeffrey Ray of Efland; two sisters, Jean Lucas of Myrtle Beach,
S.C. and his twin sister, Kay McLamb of Youngsville; and six grandchildren.
Betty Sue Turner
BOISE, Idaho A private funeral for Betty Sue Turner, 75,
of Bosie, Idaho, who died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007 following an extended
illness, was conducted on Oct. 3, in the Alden-Waggoner Funeral
Home chapel. Burial was in the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
Born on April 16, 1932 in Timberlake, the youngest of 11 children,
Mrs. Turner was the daughter of the late Ernest Noel and Sue Betty
Reade Tillett. Her late brothers were James, Arthur and Wyche, and
her late sisters were Elizabeth, Lucy and Adeline.
A graduate of Helena High School, she was a homemaker and enjoyed
gardening, baking and sewing.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Bill Turner; a daughter,
Linda Hansen and husband, Jerry, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; a son, Nathan
Turner and wife, Deanna, of Boise; two brothers, William Tillett
of Timberlake and Reade Tillett of Burlington; two sisters, Grace
Temple of Charlotte and Nancy Mel of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.;
a grandson, Cody, of Idaho Falls; four step-grandchildren; and four
step-great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Mountain States Tumor Institute and
St. Luke's Hospice.
Robert G. Weston
RED OAK, Va. The funeral for Robert Glenn Weston, 45, of
Red Oak, Va., who died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007 at Duke Medical Center,
will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in the Watkins, Cooper &
Lyon Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Mike Whitt and the Rev. Jane
Lyon. Burial will be in the Antioch Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Weston was the son of Louise Clark Weston, who survives, and
the late Clifford Marshall Weston.
A graduate of Randolph Henry High School, he was a tobacco farmer.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Angela Tuck Weston
formerly of Roxboro; two brothers, Dale Weston of Red Oak and Dennis
Weston of Clarksville, Va.; his grandfather, William Clark of Chase
City, Va.; and his mother-in-law, Margie Tuck of Roxboro.
Annie D. Wilkins
The funeral for Annie D. Wilkins, 90, of Rose Manor Healthcare
Center in Durham, who died on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, will be conducted
at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, in Cleggs Chapel Missionary Baptist Church
by the Rev. Lewis Cash. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Wilkins was a native of Person County.
She was a member of Cleggs Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Altomae Mitchell of Rougemont and Hazel
Davis of Baltimore, Md.; a son, Wallace Wilkins of Roxboro; 11 grandchildren;
11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, Oct. 13, at the
church and at other times at her home, 12500 Hurdle Mills Rd., Hurdle
Mills.
