Margie M. Coleman
RALEIGH The funeral for Margie Macon Coleman, 86, of Raleigh,
who died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 at the Blue Ridge Health Care Center,
was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, in the Bryan-Lee Funeral
Home chapel. Burial was in the Raleigh Memorial Park.
Mrs. Coleman was a native of Wake County, the daughter of the late
Joseph Macon and Minnie Hicks Macon. Her late husband was James
Hubert Coleman. Her late granddaughter was Meredith Stancil.
She was retired from N.C. State University where she worked in
the accounting department.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons, James H. Coleman Jr. of Dudley and J. Edward
Coleman and wife, Chris, of Raleigh; a daughter, Lynette C. Ostrowski
and husband, Robbie, of Raleigh; two sisters, Florine Holder and
Louise Caviness, both of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Richard Coleman
of Roxboro, Michelle Montgomery of Pikeville and Bobby and Brice
Ostrowski, both of Raleigh; three great-grandchildren, Ashley and
Austin Coleman of Roxboro and Abigail Montgomery of Pikeville; and
three step-great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Lindsey and Dylan Montgomery,
all of Fuquay-Varina.
Memorials may be made to the Meredith Stancil Memorial Nursing
Scholarship Fund at Wayne Community College in Goldsboro.
Lena S. Daniel
CREEDMOOR A graveside funeral for Lena S. Daniel, 66, of
1694 Holly Dr., Creedmoor, who died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007 at her
home, was conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29, in the Carolina
Memorial Gardens by Dr. Marc Tilley.
Mrs. Daniel was a native of Wake County, the daughter of the late
Edgar Marcus and Elizabeth Pecola Taylor Stell. Her late brothers
were Louis Stell and Edgar Stell and her late sister was Thelma
Hopkins.
She was a nurse at Lenox Baker Childrens Hospital.
She was a Baptist.
Surviving are her husband, Guthrie Daniel; a son, Lonnie Pratt
Maynard and wife, Angie, of Franklinton; a daughter, Lisa Slaughter
and husband, Donald, of Butner; two sisters, Daisy Cooley of Timberlake
and Louise Wood of Grantsboro; and four grandchildren, Pratt Lee
Maynard of Franklinton, Cory Maynard and Katelyn Slaughter, both
of Butner and Nathan Slaughter of Four Oaks.
Honorary pallbearers were Cory Maynard, Pratt Lee Maynard, Wayne
Cooley, Buck Cooley, Ray Bunch, William Burnett and Wayne Goss.

Joan S. Davis
A memorial service for Joan Snow Davis, 65, of 252 Providence Rd.,
who died Friday, Oct. 26, 2007 at Duke University Medical Center,
was conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, in North Roxboro Baptist
Church by the Rev. Ben Durand.
Mrs. Davis was a native of Person County, the daughter of the late
Willie and Lessie Roberson Snow.
She was retired from Collins & Aikman Corp. after over 30 years
of service.
She was a member of North Roxboro Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 37 years, David S. Davis; three daughters,
Cherri L. Shaffer and husband, Brent, of Wallingford, Pa., Mitzi
L. Fonda and husband, John, of Winston-Salem and Catrina D. Vaughn,
of Roxboro; a son, David S. Davis Jr. of Roxboro; a step-daughter,
Debra D. Powell; a step-son, Mike D. Davis; two sisters, Carolyn
Batten of Danville, Va. and Linda Lacks of South Boston, Va.; a
brother, Larry Snow of Timberlake; and six grandchildren, Morgan
and Gray Shaffer, Christina and Charlotte Fonda, Elizabeth and Matthew
Vaughn.

Nannie J. Evans
HILLSBOROUGH A graveside funeral for Nannie Elizabeth Jones
Evans, 88, who died Monday, Oct. 29, 2007 at Rose Manor in Durham,
will be conducted immediately following visitation in the Hillsborough
Town Cemetery by her nephew, the Rev. Danny Evans.
Formerly of Hillsborough, Mrs. Evans was the daughter of the late
George (Pete) and Ardelia Jones. Her late husband was Frank W. Evans,
and her late brothers were Robert, Matthew, Raymond, George, Clarence
and Boyd Jones.
Surviving are a son, Frank W. Evans Jr. and wife, Wanda, of Timberlake;
two daughters, Linda Kay Bishop of Haw River and Brenda Faye Faucette
of Efland; a sister, Hazel Evans of Carthage; four grandsons, Steve
Burgess, Scott Evans, Keith Burgess and William Bishop; three granddaughters,
Deanne Evans Duncanson, Donna Kay Bishop and Tammy Burgess; and
10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. today, Oct. 31, at
Walker's Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Steve Burgess, Scott Evans,
Keith Burgess and William Bishop and great-grandsons, Seth Evans
and Steven Lee Burgess.
Charles T. Howerton
CHAPEL HILL A memorial service for Charles Thaddeus Howerton,
59, who died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007 at the Durham Veterans Administration
Hospital, will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Oct. 31, in the Hudson
Funeral Home chapel by Elder Ronald Lawrence.
Born Dec. 5, 1947, in Durham County, Mr. Howerton was the son of
the late James and Lois Howerton. His late brother was Jerry Howerton.
Surviving are his wife, Selma Gay Howerton; a brother, Jim Howerton
of Weaverville; four sisters, Susan Bullock of Rougemont, Karen
Lawrence of Nashville, Tenn., Mitzi Allison of Durham and Trudy
Kritt of Raleigh.
He was a paraplegic for over 37 years and lived independently as
long as he could. He lived in the ECRC in the Durham VA Hospital
for the last four months.
Visitation will be at the funeral home for one hour before the
service.
