Doris H. Booth
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. A graveside funeral for Doris Hall
Booth, a resident of West Palm Beach for 59 years, who died Friday,
Nov. 9, 2007, will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 14, in the
Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church cemetery in Person County.
Mrs. Booth was a native of Person County, the daughter of the late
William Huel and Marian Bailey Hall. Her late brother was William
Joseph Hall.
She was a graduate of Bethel Hill High School and Greensboro Womens
College.
Surviving are two daughters, Maggie Valcourt of Eldersburg, Md.
and Deborah Booth of Chapel Hill; and two sisters, Margaret Burks
of Kernersville and Ruth Hodges of Eden.

Bonita F. Boyer
Funeral arrangements were incomplete Tuesday evening for Bonita
(Bonnie) Fansler Boyer of Roxboro, who died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007.
Mrs. Boyer was a native of Garrett, Ind. and a graduate of Manchester
College in North Manchester, Ind.
Her late husband was Ralph Boyer.
She was a teacher and volunteer, most recently enjoying her time
volunteering at the Extended Care Unit of Person Memorial Hospital.
Surviving are a son, Ted Boyer; a daughter Janis Pinto, and grandchildren
Brittany and Chris Boyer, Hector and Corey Pinto and Shawn Klinko.

Patsy E. Britt
DURHAM A memorial service for Patsy Ellis Britt, 55, of
5321 Revere Rd., Durahm, who died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007 at Duke
Hospice at the Meadowlands, was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov.
13, in Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church by the Rev. Marilyn Shipman.
Ms. Britt was a lifelong resident of Durham, the daughter of the
late Billy and Christine Davis Ellis.
She was a 1970 graduate of Northern High School.
Surviving are two sisters, Deborah E. Van Deventer of Durham and
Penny E. Winstead of Wilmington; four brothers, Larry Ellis and
Barry Ellis, both of Rougemont, Vernon Ellis of Stem and G. Mark
Ellis of Roxboro.

Edna P. Carr
The funeral for Edna Poole Carr, 88, formerly of 112 Harold Gill
Rd., who died Monday, Nov. 12, 2007 at Maria Parham Healthcare in
Henderson, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, in Trinity
United Methodist Church by the Rev. Martin Hall. Burial will be
in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Carr was a native of Person County, the daughter of the late
Hillman and Lizzy Poole West. Her late husband of 43 years was Earlie
Emory Carr. Her late daughters were Ivy Lou Poole, Patsy Poole and
Peggy Rudd, and her late sons were James Poole and William (Bill)
Poole. Her late sister was Drucilla Walker and her late brothers
were John Merritt, Joe B. West and Kenneth West.
She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Brenda P. Snead and husband, Sammy, of
Roxboro; three sons, Herbert Poole and wife, Liz, of Mt. Jackson,
Va., Wayne Poole and Danny Poole, both of Roxboro; and a sister,
Bettie Pearl Humphries of Roxboro.
Pallbearers will be Bradley Brann, Harold Denny, Earl Humphries,
Jason Poole, Steve Poole and Stanley Reaves.
Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today, Nov. 14,
at Strickland Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her
daughter, Brenda Snead, 3010 Dennys Store Rd., Roxboro.
Tristam G. Clayton
The funeral for Tristam Graves Clayton, 71, formerly of 3712 Morton
Pulliam Rd., who died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007 at the Senior Citizens
Nursing Center in Henderson, was conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov.
12, in the Strickland Funeral Home chapel. Burial was in the Clayton
Family Cemetery.
Mr. Clayton was a former storekeeper of Claytons Corner and
Twins Country Mart.
He was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Frances C. Williams of Louisburg; a brother,
Maxie Thomas Clayton of Pasco, Wash.; and a grandson, Clayton Samuel
Williams of Louisburg.
Pallbearers were Larry Bowes, Rat Clayton, Ronnie Gobble, Mike
Smith, Rick Smith, Allen Watts, Clayton Williams and Criss Williams.
Wallace Clayton, Buck Oakley and Sam Oakley were honorary pallbearers.
Deborah G. Grant
STEM A memorial service for Deborah Greenhill Grant, 57,
who died Friday, Nov. 9, 2007 at Durham Regional Hospital following
a brief illness, was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the
Clements Funeral Home chapel.
Mrs. Grant was a native of Durham County, the daughter of the late
Betty Smith and Jesse Eugene Greenhill.
She was employed with Homestead Extended Stay Hotels.
Her late son was Harry Grant Jr.
Surviving are two daughters, Miriam Day of Creedmoor and Jessica
Davis and husband, Ephron III (Jeff), of Stem; three sisters, Jackie
Denny of Roxboro, Nancy Roberts of Butner and Sharon Matthews of
Bahama; two brothers, Wayne Greenhill of Durham and Timothy Greenhill
of Durham; and six grandchildren, Hayley Davis, Erin Davis, Ephron
Davis IV, Victoria White, Cassidy White and Justin White.

Clayborne Herndon
DURHAM The funeral for Clayborne Herndon, 72, of 1601 Redmond
Dr., Durham, who died Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Durham Regional Hospital,
will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, in the Clements Funeral
Home chapel in Durham by the Rev. Neil Hearn. Burial will be in
the Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Herndon was a native of Durham County, the son of the late
Taft and Sarah Leila Williams Herndon.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the 82nd Airborne.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Blue Cross Blue Shield
of North Carolina.
He loved to hunt and fish.
Surviving are his wife, Janet Herndon; a son, Clayborne Herndon
Jr. and wife, Nancy, of Roxboro; a brother, Larry Herndon of Durham;
five sisters, Ramona Oliver of Gastonia, Faye Jacobs, Deloris Moore,
Carolyn Pipkin and Linda Beck, all of Durham; and two grandchildren,
Brittany Herndon of Winston-Salem and Heather Vanderbunt of Asheville.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 14, at the
funeral home and at other times at the home.
Margaret C. Seamster
The funeral for Margaret (Jamie) Coates Seamster, 95, of Roxboro,
who died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007 at the Roxboro Nursing Center, will
be conducted 11 a.m. today, Nov. 14, in Oak Grove United Methodist
Church by the Rev. Ken McLean and the Rev. Herbert Brown. Burial
will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Seamster was a native of Person County, the daughter of the
late Joseph B. and Susan Warren Coates. Her late husband was Nathan
Seamster.
Mrs. Seamster was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church
where she taught Sunday School for a number of years and was a member
of the United Methodist Women.
She was a member of the Homemakers Club, a wonderful cook, and
a maker of hundreds of quilts.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Alice Clayton and husband, Elmo,
and Joe Seamster and wife, Hilda, all of Roxboro; seven grandchildren;
12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three step
great-grandchildren; and three step great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Danny Clayton, Butch Clayton, Timothy Clayton,
Greg Seamster, Kevin Clayton and Chris Yarboro.
Jimmy Yarboro, Kendall Yarboro, Richie Clayton, Jeffrey Clayton,
Robby Clayton and Brad Carver will be honorary pallbearers.

Oakalee H. Zimmerman
Oakalee Hollifield Zimmerman, 63, of 7557 Burlington Rd., Hurdle
Mills, who died Friday, Nov. 9, 2007 at her home, was conducted
at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in Clement Baptist Church by the Rev.
Johnny Smith and the Rev. Norman Talley. Burial was in the church
cemetery.
Born in Yancey County, Mrs. Zimmerman was the daughter of the late
Clarkston Armond and Anna Belle Branch Hollifield. Her late brother
was Shelby Hollifield, and her late sisters were Ellie Zimmerman
and Virginia Waycaster.
She was retired from Collins & Aikman Corp. and was a member
of Clement Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Carlton Owen Zimmerman; a son, Ken Zimmerman
and wife, Tracey, of Roxboro; a daughter, Laurie Pearce and husband,
Danny, of Franklinton; her siblings, Clarkston Hollifield, Jr. of
Burnsville, Bette Barrier of Jonas Ridge, Clarence Hollifield of
Reidsville, Sue Pickard of Roxboro, Linda Franklin and Wanda Franklin,
both of Jonas Ridge; and five grandchildren, Devin, Shelby and Chase
Zimmerman and Avery and Madison Pearce.
Pallbearers were Mike Blalock, Mike Stacey, Wayne Bowes, Butch
Matthews, Kevin Overby, Tony Stone, Clyde Bailey and Danny McCullough.
Billy Reynolds, Chelves Ashby, Cecil Overby and Terry Thompson
were honorary pallbearers.
