Katherine Clayton
The funeral for Katherine Clayton, 70, formerly of 1539 Red Oak
Ct., who died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007 at Rose Manor Health Care in
Durham, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at Cleggs Chapel
Baptist Church by the Rev. Lewis Cash. Burial will be in the church
cemetery.
Ms. Clayton was a member of Cleggs Chapel Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Frankie Clayton and wife, Tammy, of Louisville,
Ky.; a sister, Delois Clayton of Roxboro; a stepsister, Rosa Mae
Outlaw of Roxboro; a brother, Leroy Clayton of Oxford; and three
grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at
Cunningham & Nelson Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
Leamon T. Clayton
MECHANICSVILLE, Va. The funeral for Leamon Thomas (LT) Clayton
81, of 7112 Fishing Cir., Mechanisville,Va., who died Thursday,
Nov. 22, 2007 at Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville,
will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, in the Strickland Funeral
Home chapel in Roxboro by the Rev. Herbert Brown. Burial will be
in the Clayton Family Cemetery.
Mr. Clayton was a native of Guilford County, the son of the late
Leamon Thomas and Magnolia Turner Clayton. His late wife of 32 years
was Ann Lee Clayton. His late brother was Wright Clayton, and his
late sisters were Ethel Clayton and Abbie Flynt.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was wounded in action
on D-Day.
He was a retired self-employed painter and was a Baptist.
Surviving are two sons, Mark Clayton of Jacksonville, Fla. and
Rick Blackburn of Miami, Fla.; a sister, Ruby Nola of Mechanicsville
and a granddaughter, Madlien Brooke Blackburn of Miami.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 30, at
the funeral home.
Alice M. Ford
The funeral for Alice Martin Ford, 91, of 356 Fletcher Ridge Rd.,
Timberlake, who died Monday, Nov. 26, 2007 at Person Memorial Hospital,
will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, in Ephesus Baptist
Church by the Rev. L.L. Watlington. Burial will be in the church
cemetery.
Born in Person County, Mrs. Ford was the daughter of the late Luther
Jackson and Ida Myrtle Aheron Martin. Her late husband was Johnny
Ford, and her late son was Richard Jackson Ford.
She was a homemaker and a member of Ephesus Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Eva Duncan of Leasburg, Sue Keen
of Timberlake and Betty Lorene Loftis of Roxboro; a sister, Dora
Crabtree of Mebane; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren;
and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kendall Duncan, Ronnie Hodges, Kyle Duncan,
Willie Day, Blake Lowery and Carl (Bo) Loftis.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today, Nov. 28, at
Brooks & White Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Beatrice T. Pleasants
The funeral for Beatrice Tuck Pleasants, 82, of 925 Frank St.,
who died Monday, Nov. 26, 2007 at the Roxboro Nursing Center, will
be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 28, in Westwood Baptist Church
by the Rev. Gerald Hodges. Burial will be in the Burchwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Pleasants was a native of Durham County, the daughter of the
late Joe and Emma Chambers Tuck. Her late husband was Alvis Monroe
(Buddy) Pleasants Jr.
She was a retired beautician and retired from Stienthal Co.
She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church where she was very
active with the Senior Adult Ministries.
Surviving are a daughter, Kay Francis Grinstead of Roxboro; three
sons, Joey Pleasants, Tommy Pleasants and Timothy Pleasants, all
of Roxboro; a sister, Josephine T. Phillips of Roxboro; seven grandchildren;
and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Tuck, Carter Lewis, Kevin Snead, Brooks
Pleasants, Henry Loftis, Ronnie Epps and Randy Green.

Larry W. Thaxton Jr.
SOUTH BOSTON, Va. The funeral for Larry Wayne Thaxton Jr.,
40, of 2122 Old Cluster Springs Rd., South Boston, Va., who died
Monday, Nov. 26, 2007 at his home, will be conducted at 11 a.m.
today, Nov. 28, in Olive Branch Baptist Church by the Rev. Victor
Blackwell. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Thaxton was a native of Halifax County, Va., the son of Brenda
Cole Thaxton of South Boston, who survives, and the late Larry Wayne
Thaxton.
He was the owner/operator of Larry Thaxton Trucking, Inc.
He was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Candace B. Thaxton;
two sons, Austin W. Thaxton and E. Bryce Thaxton, both of South
Boston; two daughters, Brooke E. Thaxton and Erin P. Thaxton, both
of South Boston; a sister, Tammy E. Thaxton of South Boston; and
his paternal grandparents, Killis W. and Mary Thaxton of South Boston.

Jewell C. Wilson
DURHAM The funeral for Jewell C. Wilson, 72, of Rougemont,
who died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007 in the Hillcrest Convalescent Center
in Durham, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 28, at Rougemont
Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Bobby Daughtry. Burial will be
in the Flat River Primitive Baptist Church cemetery in Roxboro.
Ms. Wilson was a native of Granville County, the daughter of the
late Thomas and Allie Copley.
Surviving are her husband, Samuel M. Wilson Jr.; a son, Danny Parrish
and wife, Bonnie; two sisters, Christine Woodlief of Rougemont and
Mary Lee Hawkins of Mebane; a brother, Larry Copley of Hillsborough;
and three grandchildren, Travis Parrish, Sam Parrish and Allie Parrish.
